Nursery Diaries: Part 2

We are making progress on the nursery. I am not ready to post a finished product yet, because we still have several things to do! But, here are some of the details we have finished...

Our twig chandalier. Mom and I did the shades and trimmed them with orange trim and turquoise ball fringe.

This is our glider. I just got it back from the people that re-covered it. We are looking for the perfect pillow to go in it.

Whax's Mommasissy (aka my sweet sister) gave him this darling lamp. It is so cute in the nursery.

As soon as I get bedding in, curtains hung, pictures on the wall and everything just the way I want them, I will post more pictures. Until then, I hope you are able to see where our vision is headed.

These are a few of our favorite things...

I have posted some fun pics and some of our favorite things that Whax has received in the last several weeks. We have had some precious friends and family spoil us rotten!

These are baby Whax's first set of cowboy boots. His Aunt Katie and Uncle Ben and Campbell sent these to him! Every Texan boy needs his first cowboy boots. We love them, thank you for thinking of us!

Baby Whax has his teams he is rooting for and his outfits for watching college football with dad!

I love all the darling smocked clothes we have gotten! I grew up in smocked clothes and can't wait to put our little one in them. This is from Julie and Carl, Shelby's sweet in-laws! Thanks Bebe and Papa! We love our little sailboats!

The best daddy-to-be!

I am a bit late, but did not want to miss the opportunity to say that I can't wait to raise children with my sweet husband! Happy first Father's Day Max! You will be the most amazing dad and you are already the most precious husband!

Max got the clubs below for Father's day. They are baby Whax's first set of golf clubs! He has these clubs displayed prominently in the nursery - a proud daddy!

Update on Mom and Whax!

Thank you for your prayers and your sweet comments and calls. I have been out of the hospital for a little over a week now and am adjusting to life on crutches and twice daily shots in my tummy. It could be worse!

I have just received a brand new appreciation for my health and the health of this baby. What's the forecast? Well, doctors have cleared me to continue to work as long as I stay on my crutches and am not on my feet all day long. We are praying for two things at this point: 1) the blood clot does not move 2) the baby will go full-term. I really want to carry this little boy as far as I can, preferably to or past his due date in September.

Max and I went to a sonogram today and the baby looks great! I will see if I can't scan some of those pics in and post. He is weighing in at 3 pounds and 2 ounces (which is usually what an average baby weighs at 32 weeks). We are 29 weeks and 4 days. So, little boy is already a little big for his size. I am ok with that! I want him to be as big and healthy as he can! Little one has chubby cheeks, big eyes and a cute button nose. Verdict is still out if he has dimples! We will wait and see.

Whax still does not have a name and will probably not until we see him. We are on track for a September delivery unless the good Lord has other plans for us. Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray!

A bump in the road and prayers needed

I have been waiting to write and ask for your prayers until we had more information. Last Friday I received news that I had a large blood clot in my groin. The risk with a blood clot is that it can get loose and cause a pulmonary embolism, which can be fatal. I found this clot after my left leg started swelling and turning purple. I lost the ability to walk on my leg and then finally went to see a doctor.

Being almost 7 months pregnant, there is not a ton of treatment they can give you for a blood clot. They cannot do surgery to remove it and they are limited on what medications they can give you to help dissolve it. I was admitted to the hospital on Friday and am still here today. I am crossing my fingers and hoping to go home tomorrow. I have been on multiple doses of Heparin which is an anti-coagulant drug that thins your blood. We are still waiting to be thinned, but in the meantime I am really writing to ask for prayer.

Max and I need prayer in the following areas:

1) Pray that the blood clot is contained and does not travel to my heart or lungs.
2) Pray that Baby Whax is safe and his health is not compromised through this.
3) Pray that the Lord would remove the fear that is in our hearts and give us a peace that surpasses all understanding.
4) Pray that the clot will eventually dissolve
5) Pray for wisdom for my doctors
6) Pray for a healthy delivery of our precious baby in 12 weeks.

I know that is alot to ask you to pray for, but we would covet any and all of your prayers. The hardest part about all of this is that there is nothing I did to provoke this and nothing I can do to eliminate it. When we leave the hospital, we will leave knowing that we have a blood clot that could get loose. However, we know and claim that our God is much bigger than this situation and we ask you to join with us in praying too!

I will keep you all posted on our progress. The positive news is that I will not be required to go on bed rest as being stagnat is one of the worst things you can do for a blood clot. Balance is the key... propping your leg when it is swollen and exercising it when you can tolerate the pain.

So far Baby Whax has been reslient and is doing well. We are praying for his continued health and confident in the plans the Lord has for us!

More to come as soon as we have more of an update. I am hoping to start a new treatment tonight that will hopefully allow us to get home tomorrow.

Cucumbers.... English Cucumbers

Baby Whax is 15 inches this week and almost 2 pounds. He is the size of an English Cucumber. Max and I just got back from being in the Florida Keys and we had our first pregnancy scare. Baby did not move for 3.5 days, all because he was changing positions. Now, he has moved, is more active and seems to be sitting on the nerves in my spine! Let's just say this is not the most comfortable I have been.

To complicate matters a bit, Dallas is supposed to have triple digits 100 degrees plus this weekend and next week. It is June 4 folks! This is going to be one long hot summer. I have begun my daily swimming routine to try and stay cool. We are hard at work on the babies room (more pics to come soon) and I just had my first shower and it was a blast. Long post coming on that.

For today, I am cleaning, organizing, nesting and swimming! More later...
