Building Your Nest?

If you are like me, you are all the time doing something, fluffing, fixing, painting or changing something to your house. Maybe I come by it honestly - in fact I do. My parents are both very talented and creative. My mom does a good amount of interior design work and my dad is a home builder. I grew up around this creativity and "got the bug" per say!

Many of you may remember my nursery reveal. My mom and dad were very much a part of the inspiration and execution of Wells' new home. This was such a fun project to do together.

During the course of that project, I began to encourage my dad to start a blog to share with the world his creative genius, fun building tips and get others creative juices going. He has finally taken the plunge. You can check it out: www.dallasbuilder.blog.com

Share it with others and use it as a tool as you work on your nest too!
Thanks, Daddy, for sharing your talents with me and others! Love you!

Swing, Swing!

We love our swing! In fact, it is one of our new favorite things.

And, I love the look on this little boy's face. The look above is quite a familiar face (looks like me when I am pensive.)
And the smiles the swing brings on make me so happy!

Enjoy this weather today.

Two, two and two

That is right. This little boy has had 2 ear infections in 2 weeks and had gained almost 2 pounds in the past 2 weeks!

When we went to the doctor yesterday to figure out we have had our 2nd ear infection in 2 weeks, we also learned that this big boy went from weighing 16 pounds 15 ounces (at almost 6 months of age) to 18 pounds 10 ounces (at a little over 6 months of age). This little boy is growing in epic proportions!

McCall turns 2!

This past Saturday, McCall turned 2! She and Shelby are living in Dallas while Jake is off serving our country! So, we got to celebrate her all day long. She loved "her day" and we loved watching and playing with her. Below are some photos from this big occasion...

Waking up from "Nap Noo" as she calls her nap!
McCall and I playing in the park. She and her "sissy" as she calls me played, ran and did the slide - so fun!
Wells was just hanging out watching us play!
And then when we went inside, he played in the balls at his Dollys.
Ziggy, Shelby's IG, loved Wells and loved being in the middle of the celebration.
We woke her up with a kiss and her sippy!

I just love her face in this one!
McCall got a matching refrigerator to go with her oven. Inside the refrigerator were the rest of her gifts.
Half way through gift time, McCall took a "break" to go see what Wells was doing.
She got an owl pillow and she loved it - wanted to take a "nap noo" on it right away.

Half way through opening gifts she became quite distracted by her little cousin and decided she wanted to go play with him. It warms my heart to see how she is beginning to love being with him!

We love you, McCall Ellzey, with all of our hearts! We are so proud of the beautiful young lady you are and cannot wait to see what your 2nd year of life brings! Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

My favorite mommy moment yet

Happened this past Friday while we were at Top Golf - just the three of us. For those of you who have never been to Top Golf - you must see if there is one near you. It is so much fun and is for the expert golfer as well as those who just want to have fun. I am not that great at golf, but I love going with my husband - and now my little boy!

The evening started with Max playing first....

When he was finished with his round, he turned around to find Wells like this...
My heart was so full by my sweet little boy not wanting to let go of my face. Then, I turned to look at him and he did this...

The first official and intentional kiss from my little boy! It was so special and so precious!

Such a special moment that I kind of forgot about wanting to play Top Golf and was more interested in cuddling with my little one!

Guilty pleasure and things that really matter!

OK - I must admit... I am one of those people who loves to watch the Bachelor. For some reason, I have had a crazy fascination with watching people's lives play out on TV - so really I love reality TV. Trashy - I know. Good - absolutely!

For most of my life, I have loved to people watch. In fact, most of my family would tell you I have a really bad habit of staring! I choose to consider it being observant. Hey, I have to be. I am in a profession that requires me to be very observant and very nosey. I have to be "on" all of the time. And, I have to be a "reporter" if you will. So, reality TV really appeals to the "reporter" and "nosey" side of me.

On to the Bachelor. If you are not following this season - hang with me. If you are, I want you to know that I think Emily is hands-down the best choice. (Emily is the one on the left).

Chantal (the one on the right) is a sweet girl, but not near as classy as Emily. I do have mixed feelings though. If Brad (the bachelor) ends up with Emily, I am not sure they would last. You see, Emily is too classy for him. Chantal is just about his speed. However, I am not so sure that Brad is not in love with Emily. So, we will see how it plays out on the final episode (airing next Monday at 7 CST).

I have gotten my whole family hooked on this show. Even though they may not admit it, my husband, sister and dad all piled up on the couch last night and watched it. I even have my father-in-law hooked. Mom was out of town - otherwise she would have been there.

And, on to something that really matters - my sweet little boy!!! I recently found this precious picture of my little one at 6 weeks old when we were at the beach. I hope it makes you smile like it did me.

Like Father Like Son...

Well, you have heard the ole' phrase "Like Father, Like Son" and the picture below gives new meaning to it...

I came out into our living room the other morning to discover the picture above. Max wanted Wells to wear similar shoes to his daddy's. What's funny is the shoes Wells has on are way too big for him right now...and Max still insisted on him wearing them so they could match! It absolutely warms my heart how much my hubby adores our little one!

And, thought I would leave you all with a picture that makes me smile...
Have a great weekend!
