This Little Girl is One of My Biggest Blessings...

My sweet niece, McCall, is now 1 and is growing like a weed! I cannot wait for her to have a cousin to play with and for them to grow up together! I just came across a few pictures my sister sent of this precious one that I wanted to share with you!

This has to be one of my favorites. She is so girly and loves hats and head bands! I gave her that sweet dress she is wearing and it looks adorable on her! Can't wait to get my arms around you very soon!

A Highlight in My Career!

Anyone an American Idol fan? If so, anyone a Casey James fan?

I have to admit that I have not watched this season, but I had one of the coolest things happen last Friday! Casey James, one of the top 3 finalists came to the hospital where I work to "pay it forward" and visit the doctor and staff that saved his life 6 years ago.

Casey was in a bad motorcycle accident in 2004 and was treated at my hospital, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. I got a call from the American Idol producer last Friday saying that Casey wanted to come and visit the hospital during his hometown visit and see the doctor and staff who saved his life.

I had the privilege of coordinating his visit and the segment is scheduled to be aired on Wednesday night on American Idol. Tune in if you can - Texas Health Fort Worth will be featured!

This day goes down as one of the biggest highlights in my career. The event was like coordinating a movie premier and the rush and excitement that came with this event is part of why I love what I do.

My First Mother's Day

This year was my first year to celebrate Mother's Day! What a wonderful day I had celebrating with my own mom and Max's mom! I have included some pics below.

Max and I made this grandmother's survival kit for his mama! It had things for her and for the baby to live at her house!
Uncle Al (Max's brother) was so sweet to me on Mother's day! He bought this Baylor onesie and made a doll out of it! He was so proud and it was too cute!

Can't wait to be a mama and hold our little one in just a few months!

Building Whax's Wardrobe

This child is going to be the most well-dressed kiddo on the planet, thanks to so many loving family members who are already giving him some precious items. Below are a few that mean alot to me...

My sweet 85-year-old grandmother made these for Whax! She makes them for the babies in the hospital where she volunteers and made some especially for our baby! I can't wait to see him in them Mimi!
My mama and daddy gave us this little sweet outfit with frogs on it! It is so hard to find cute clothes for boys and this is one of my favorites! Thanks Dolly and Dutch!

We have received several others that I am sure you will see soon enough. But, these two were just among my favorite and had lots of meaning!

Any guesses what our little one will look like?

Below are pictures of me and Max at the same age. I love looking at these pics and guessing what our little one might look like. Any ideas?

Max at age 2! So funny how he still has this same darling, innocent face!
Me at age 2. My family had to stand on their heads to get me to smile. And, have I mentioned that I was a fat baby - weighing in at 9 pounds and 14.5 ounces when I was born!

Not looking forward to a big baby, but all signs are pointing to the fact that little Whax has a big head and is big for his gestation! Taking after his mama and daddy already!

Nursery Diaries - Part 1

This nursery has been quite the process. My mom and I (Max has added his two cents every now and then - he has been too busy studying to worry about nursery details)have been working on it since I was 5 weeks pregnant - and it is just now starting to look like a nursery. Lots more detail to come, but some of the details we have in there now...

We are designing the whole room around this owl rug. I AM NOT doing an "owl" theme. I just fell in love with this 3D yarn rug that is now hanging prominently on the nursery room wall.
This twig chandelier is one that I had in my old house and it goes perfectly in the babies room. We are still working on finding the right shades, but you get the idea!

This twig table is actually from my wedding. The whole "twig" motif goes with the owl rug and the rug I just got today for the floor - more on that later.

This is the babies crib. Oh, I wish I could tell you how many places Max and I went to find the perfect crib. We must have gone to 15 places, until we finally found the crib above. We both walked in and loved it. It is a good cross between a Jenny Lynd crib and a "traditional" kind of crib. We were in search of a "traditional" looking crib, and this fit the bill! Can't wait to see my sweet baby in it!

We are working on bedding, a rug, a rocker and wall decor as we speak. More to come on both of those once we get a little further down the road. Oh, and I have been asked several times what colors we are using. The bedding is brown, white, green and turquoise. We are doing turquoise, green and orange accents around the room. Can't wait to share more.

A BOY!

We could not be happier and feel more blessed to welcome a little boy in our family. I will be the first to admit I do not have a clue what to do with boys - but my grandmother keeps reminding me that the Lord does not send them without an instruction manual that goes along with them! I can't wait to meet this little boy in 19 short weeks!
