A family affair

I am headed to Amarillo to go to my cousins wedding. I am so looking forward to spending a weekend with my family. Shelby and McCall are going to be with us and I can't wait to be in total aunt-mode. I saw McCall two nights ago and let me tell you - 3 months and 15 pounds - the precious baby does not miss a meal!

John Stott Study on Galatians

We are doing the John Stott study on Galatians, Galatians - Experiencing the Grace of Christ with our Bible Study right now. I worked on our study this morning and was struck by a few key points...

1) God chose Paul to be a disciple before his birth separating him from his mother's womb (Galatians 1:15)
2) Before Paul experienced the revelation of God's calling he was carrying on the Jewish traditions of painstakingly keeping the law and persecuting the church with the intent to destroy it. What a transformation he made after experiencing the calling of God!
3) Paul was not interested in pleasing men, nor did he have any human influence that colored his ability to share the Gospel.

After reading today in Galatians 1 - I was struck by how often we as humans seek to please man, not God. Paul's example of following the calling set out by God was very convicting to me. It is not man who determines my calling or success, but God.

I hope this is as much of an encouragement to you as it was to me!

The Good, The Bad, The Puppies

So, we have not introduced the rest of our family - the puppies. Ava and Archer are both Italian Greyhounds and are the loves of our life. I don't know that I have ever met more spoiled puppies. They are treated like people.

We have had Ava for two years. Archer came along last November after Ava told us she wanted a little brother. Well, Archer adores Ava. Ava tolerates him most of the time.

It has been good for them to have each other. Both of them are squirrel (and rat) killing machines. I think it is safe to say that no rodent or small animal stands a chance with our greyhounds, especially when they are with their cousin Annie, a Jack Russell Terrier.

More adventures to come from our two little juvenile delinquents.

The Jackson Hole Pajamas

I mentioned in a previous post that I found some darling outfits and baby clothes on our trip to Jackson Hole. Well, my sweet sister sent me several photos today of McCall in her new pajamas.

We call her "chicken little." So the pajamas are appropriate. I have to say that she is not "little" anymore. She is beginning to look like a typical "Hoebeke Baby." Shelby and I both looked like we did not ever miss a meal. That is how we like our babies!

I am trying to find the name of the company who makes these pajamas and I will share that with you when I have it.

A Really Clean House!

Yesterday, I came home to a clean house! I cannot begin to say how happy it made me. We had some air conditioner repair men at our house on Wednesday and they were productive but made a mess.
My mom's housekeeper, Norma, who does an incredible job came yesterday. When I came home from work - it was one of the biggest treats. Max walked in and said, "man, she can clean the heck out of a house." This has now afforded me a less stressful weekend.
Amazing how the small things will make you happy!

Trip to Jackson Hole

Max and I just got back from an incredible trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with his family. We had an unbelievable time and saw some of God's most incredible creation. I have never seen a buffalo or a moose up close (except maybe the zoo) and to see them on the side of the road was incredible.
We also spend a day in Yellowstone National Park. This was my first visit there and we had an incredible time seeing things like mud pots, geysers and enormous waterfalls.
Max and I also hiked up the mountain and I spent some time relaxing in the spa!
